THOUSANDS of ladies showed their support for Cancer Research UK in Rhyl this Sunday as they donned their trainers for the annual Race for Life.

The 5 kilometre race took place at 11am at the Events Arena on the promenade with women of all ages taking part, and hundreds more turning up to support the runners.

Donna Fisk, aged 36 of Kinmel Bay, who took part in the race, said: “It was a really good atmosphere. It was really enjoyable and I think there were more people there than last year.

"Everyone was clapping and supporting and people were wearing fancy dress and getting into the spirit of things.

"People were getting emotional as they crossed the finish line.”

Race for Life happens across the country and is the largest women-only fundraising event which encourages women of all ages to come along and take part by running, walking or dancing their way through the 5K and 10k courses.

All money raised goes towards Cancer Research UK, which is working to beat more than 200 types of Cancer.
