UKIP top European poll in Denbighshire

UKIP won the largest share of the vote in Denbighshire in Thursday's European Parliamentary election.

The UK Independence Party received 6563 votes, a 27 per cent share of the poll with the Conservative Party in second place with 5987 or 25 per cent of the vote.

Labour came third with 5587 votes (23 per cent), Plaid Cymru were fourth with 3944 (16 per cent) while the Green Party finished with 835 votes (three per cent), just ahead of the Liberal Democrats with 675 votes.

The turnout in Denbighshire was 32 per cent.
