AN announcement is expected next month over the future of Rhyl Sun Centre.

Denbighshire Council will give details of the next stage of the Rhyl costal development works in June with expressions of interest received to run the site as both as a dry and wet facility.

Cllr Huw Jones, Lead Member for Leisure, said: “We have had interested parties in the Sun Centre. It is going very well. The expressions of interest have only just come in so we need to go back and look at them. It all depends on how it stacks up.”

Mo Chaudry, chairman of WaterWorld aqua park in Stoke-on-Trent, visited the site recently along with a team of engineers to assess the viability of taking over the Sun Centre and developing it into an indoor wet facility.

Following the visit he said: “There is absolutely no reason why the Sun Centre could not be brought into the 21st century.

“With a bit of imagination and a little bit of capital it could be rejuvenated into something extraordinary."
