Kinmel Bay man who died after Caernarfon plane crash named

A KINMEL Bay man who died after a plane crash at Caernarfon airport has been named.

Ashley Hazelwood, 61, of  Kinmel Bay, died in hospital after police and fire crews were called to the airport at Dinas Dinlle at 6pm on Thursday, May 15 after reports of a light aircraft crash on the runway.

A North Wales Police spokesman said:  "An investigation is underway by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau from Hampshire supported by North Wales Police."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 17.55hrs yesterday to reports of an accident involving a light aircraft at Caernarfon Airport.

“One rapid response vehicle, one ambulance officer and the helimed attended.

 “A male patient was conveyed to Ysbyty Gwynedd in a serious condition.”

A fire crew from Llanfairfechan was on standby at the scene, while a crew from Menai Bridge also attended.

The North West Wales Coroner's office has been informed.
