A MAN was arrested in Prestatyn last night after the windows of a chip shop were smashed.

A 32-year-old man was arrested after Karl’s Fish and Chicken on Prestatyn High Street had its windows broken with a hammer.

A police spokesperson said: “At 21.40 hours on Monday, 12 May, we received a number of calls from members of the public about a male who was seen smashing windows on Prestatyn High Street. Police attended the scene and forced entry into an address in Prestatyn where a 32-year-old male was arrested and taken into custody for interview.”

Several police cars and a police helicopter were called to the scene to look for the man, along with an ambulance and two first-respondors, although no one was hurt.
Paul Jones, who lives above the shop said: "I was watching a film and heard these loud bangs. When I looked out of the window I saw a man crossing the road with a hammer in his hand."

The incident comes just a month after the chip shop had been fully refurbished with new doors and windows.
