RHYL'S community heroes were recognised at a special gala award ceremony on Saturday night.

Volunteers, businesses, fundraisers, flood heroes and those who give back to the town were given awards during the Mayor of Rhyl's Gala Charity Evening at the Pavilion Theatre on Saturday night.

The ceremony featured a performance by vocal group Tenors of Rock as well as local talent including former Voice star, Katie Benbow who won an award at the event, Ben Williams, 12-year-old Bethan Thompkins and MavMac.

Cllr Andy Rutherford, mayor of Rhyl, said: “It is important to reward effort in the town. So much goes on in Rhyl but nobody shouts enough about.

“This is a way of saying here are some of the heroes from our town.”
