A SET of Toy Story fancy dress costumes to be used to help raise funds for a Dyserth mum-of-two battling cancer have been stolen.
Debbie Moore, owner of North Wales Party Animals, hired the Woody, Jessie, Buzz and Bullseye costumes out to a customer on Thursday night and was informed of the theft when she went to collect them on Friday.
Debbie, aged 37, who lives in Prestatyn, said: “The police were very helpful and I hope they will get to the bottom of it all.
“It’s a shame as they were a really good set and it will be very hard to match them that well again. I won’t let it keep me down though.
“Even if they are ripped or damaged I urge the person holding them to put them somewhere they can be found.”
The adult costumes costumes from the hit movie trilogy were due to be used for a cowboy-themed family fun day in aid of Cheryl Sheard, aged 35, of Dyserth, who was rediagnosed with terminal cervical cancer last month.
A donation page has been set up to send Cheryl and her family on a holiday of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris, and for a wig, which will cost about £1,000.
Debbie said: “A lot of children love meeting the characters and giving them a big hug and having their picture taken with them, it really changes the mood of an event when characters arrive as they are great fun.
“It's disappointing to tell the children that Woody and Jessie and Bullseye cannot come as they have been stolen.”
Police have confirmed that the costumes were taken at about 9.50pm on Friday from an address in Kingsley Avenue, Rhyl.
Debbie added: “It's slightly funny as the story of the Toy Story 2 movie was Woody getting pinched by a toy collector and they had to all find their way home. Buzz, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye. It's like a real life version of Toy Story 2.”
The police are urging anyone with any information to contact them on 101.
