A SEAL gives a small wave to passer-bys whilst taking a moment to relax on the beach near the Foryd Bridge.

Colin Smith and his wife, Lynda, were driving across the blue bridge, towards Kinmel Bay, when they spied the “six-foot” seal out of the water earlier this morning (Thursday).

Mr Smith expressed it was a nice surprise to see the seal, describing the animal “almost the same colour of the sand.”

He said: “My wife looked out of the window and I said to her ‘who are you signaling’ but she said she had spotted the seal.

“We carried on driving and went down left to Green Avenue so we could get a good view of the seal. He didn’t look in trouble, he looked quite happy lying on the sand. He was just resting out of the water.”

Mr Smith added that he had the pleasure of seeing a seal before, but his previous experience had been a bit more close up.

He explained: “I had a boat years ago and a big head suddenly burst out the water - it frightened me.

“This seal was fine. He was moving along the beach and he was moving his head. He seemed to be waiting.

“There was various people looking. Two vehicles stopped so they were interested, unless they had just stopped because they were curious what my wife and I were looking at.”
