A Geordie Shore heartthrob visiting a Rhyl nightclub lashed out when surrounded by customers, a court heard.

Scott Timlin, 25, punched Sam Hilson to the side of the head and his over-reaction led to his appearance before magistrates in Prestatyn.

Timlin – known as Scotty T – is one of the stars of the MTV show Geordie Shore which features a group of young Newcastle people.

The court heard that he was making a promotional appearance at Rhyl’s Hidden nightclub on February 2 when the incident occurred.

Defence solicitor Andy Hutchinson said there had been a certain amount of provocation and Mr Hilson was up close to his client, who felt under pressure.

Timlin, of King Street, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to common assault and was fined £265.

He was also ordered to pay Mr Hilson £100 in compensation and costs of £72.
