A CARE agency in Rhyl has closed down following reports of “internal problems”.
Carenza Care, a private domiciliary care agency located on Russell Road, provided services for older mentally infirm people, older people with Korsakoffs Syndrome, dementia and people who had a physical disability or brain injury caused by an accidental injury.
It shut its doors at the end of last week. Denbighshire County Council stated that they were “aware of the situation” and were working with individuals, their families and the staff involved to ensure people’s care continues with “as little disruption as possible.”
Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) said they had only been made aware that Carenza Care was considering closure earlier this month.
A spokesperson said: “They asked for advice on March 12. They were told to work with the commissioners to find alternative agencies for the service users before closing and were advised they would need to put their intentions - including a date - in writing to CSSIW. We did not received that letter.
“On March 18 we were informed via Conwy Social Services that they had heard Carenza was closing. CSSIW contacted Denbighshire social services and it was confirmed they were working with the agency to secure alternative care for the service users, with a view to close last Friday.
“We understand that the reasons relate to internal problems within the agency but are unable to comment further.”
CSSIW said that they had received confirmation from Denbighshire social services that alternative care providers were being found for service users.
The spokesperson added: “Alternative care has been found for all service users except for one couple who are currently being supported by district nurses while alternative arrangements are made.”
