Trevor Purt will take over as Chief Executive of BCUHB.

A TROUBLED north Wales health board has appointed a new Chief Executive.

Prof Trevor Purt, current boss of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has agreed to replace Mary Burrows as Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board after she stepped down last year.

Healthboard Chairman Peter Higson said: “Trevor will bring with him considerable experience and expertise in developing the capacity and capability of out of hospital care - a priority area for the health board.

“He is committed to the provision of safe and high quality services and in his current role has led developments that have secured significant reductions in rates of Healthcare Associated Infections and improvements in survival rates.”

Mr Purt has more than 11 years experience as an NHS Chief Executive and further relevant experience in the private sector.

The details of when he will take up his new post are being “worked through”, and current acting Chief Executive Geoff Lang will retain his position until Mr Purt can take over.
