A COUNCIL lorry driver has appeared in court accused of killing a pensioner.

Ian Mason, 89, died after being hit by refuse wagon being driven by Garry Fletcher in West Kinmel Street, Rhyl, on July 15, 2013.

Fletcher, 38, of Orton Grove, Rhyl, gave no indication of his plea when he appeared before Prestatyn magistrates charged with causing death by careless driving.

The Bench declined jurisdiction in the case and Fletcher was bailed to appear at Mold Crown Court on March 28.
