THE owners of a Kinmel Bay gym have been left devastated after a break in last week.
Thieves stole cash and equipment totalling thousands of pounds from Iron Bay Gym on the Bay Trading Estate in St Asaph Avenue between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The gym's safe was ripped out and iPads and a computer were also stolen
Damien Lilley, 33, who runs the gym with co-owner Gareth Burgess, 25, both of Kinmel Bay, said the gym could now be forced to close.
He said: "One of the members of the gym came to the house and said the door had been smashed in.
"The damage was terrible and the office area was smashed to bits. They have used a crowbar to get the door open.
"They stole £3,000 in cash, including rent and money which had been saved to upgrade the equipment in the gym, a computer and iPads.
"They ripped the safe out of the floor. I don't know how they did it, I bolted it down myself."
Damien, who has not been taking a wage while building up the business, said police had taken CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene.
He said: "They have had more out of the business in 30 minutes than I have in 14 months. We are hoping anyone who saw anything or has any information will come forward.
"This has had a huge impact on the business, the business is in real danger at the moment. We are devastated."
A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number R017642."
