Rhyl's derelict Grange Hotel has been bought

A DERELICT Rhyl hotel has been bought by a developer.

The Grange Hotel was destroyed by a fire in March 2008 and plans to redevelop the Grade II listed building, and turn it into apartments were made in 2009, but were withdrawn that same year.

Now a developer has purchased the hotel, although no details of the buyer or plans for the site have been revealed.

A planning application is set to be submitted.

A spokesman for Denbighshire Council said: "The property has been purchased by a developer who is having preliminary discussions with the county council prior to the submission of a planning application in due course.

"We understand that whilst the property did not meet its reserve at auction last year, it was subsequently sold privately by the administrators dealing with the affairs of the previous owners."

In May 2012 the hotel was subject of another arson attack.
