North Wales Police have been recognised by Stonewall for the sixth consecutive year as one of the leading employers in the country for equality.

Stonewall – a charitable organisation which campaigns for equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual (LGB) people in all aspects of society, has ranked North Wales Police at number 19 in its top 100 employers in the UK for 2014.

In Wales they rank number four.

Lee Bailey, Diversity Development Office with the force, said: “We are delighted with the announcement

“This is yet again testament that North Wales Police is a fair and caring employer and has robust procedures, practices and policies in place that ensure that people are treated equally.

“We continually strive to ensure that everyone employed by the force – regardless of their ethnicity, beliefs, gender or sexual orientation feels comfortable in their place of work.”

Chief Constable Mark Polin added: “A special mention should go to ‘Enfys’ our LGB&T Staff Support Network, who once again have been awarded the ‘Star Performer Network Group’ award in acknowledgement of their invaluable contribution to the experience of LGB&T staff in our organisation and beyond.”
