PLANS have been unveiled which will secure the future of three of the area's post offices.
Bodelwyddan and Rhuddlan post offices will be modernised and have extended opening hours while Meliden post office will move a short distance from its current location.
The Bodelwyddan branch, located in the Spar on Church View, will open from 5am until 11pm with the new-look branch set to open in March.
The Rhuddlan branch, located in the Spar on the High Street, will open from 6am to 11pm along with opening on Sundays.
It is set to open from March.
Dyserth Post Office will also see its opening hours more than double, with longer weekday opening and opening all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
The new-look brach will re-open in February with opening hours of 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.
Services at the branches will include automated banking services, bill and budget payment schemes, Post Office card account, postal orders and postage; inland letters and packets (including signed for and special delivery), inland parcels, international letters, small packets and printed papers.
Sue Whittall, Post Office area network manager for Wales, said: “Post Office Local is a new style of post office which sees Post Office services, operated from an open plan counter in an established retailer, with a range of key Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during store opening hours.
"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme to 2018, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches converting to new-style branches.
"This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Meliden’s One Stop Shop will move a short distance away from its current location at 21 Ffordd Talargoch, with the Post Office aiming to move to an established retail outlet to modernise its location and to extend opening hours.
The new proposed opening hours would be 6am – 11pm, seven days a week.
The new service is proposed to open in April, subject to a successful consultation.
