House prices drop in Conwy county

HOUSE prices in Conwy county have dropped during the past year, according to government statistics.

The average house price in Conwy has dropped by 1.9 per cent since the same time period last year, with the average price now marked at £125,700 - more than £40,000 less than the average UK nationwide house price at £165,411.

The Government’s Land Registry statistics show that Wales has been showing a growth in the value of its houses, with an average rise of 3.3 per cent.

However, the large majority of counties in North Wales including Conwy, Flintshire, Anglesey and Gwynedd, have shown a drop in prices - apart from Dengbishire, which had the largest growth outside of London, with prices rising by five per cent.

 

The report comes at the same time as the government’s new Help to Buy scheme was rolled out in Wales on Thursday, January 2, with the aims of helping more first time buyers on to the property ladder.
