A VAN driver failed to stop after reversing into a 12-year-old girl in Rhyl.

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses following the road traffic collision, in which the driver failed to stop, at the junction of Ffordd Derwen and Cefndy Road shortly after 8am on Thursday.

Investigating officer PC Simon Hughes said: "The young girl was on her way to school and crossed the road at the junction of Ffordd Derwen and Cefndy Road.

"In doing so she walked behind a white van which inexplicably reversed and collided with her.

"The van then drove from the scene without checking on the young girl.

“Fortunately her injuries were minor and she was released from hospital after a check-up but it could have been far more serious. I'd like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision to contact me on 101."

Contact North Wales Police on 101 or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote RC13198615.
