PRESTATYN Town chairman Phil Merrick has stepped down from his role at the club.

Mr Merrick said he is leaving the post he has held for two years to concentrate on his performance coaching business.

He said: "I have an exciting opportunity to develop my Peoplemad performance coaching business which is too good to turn down and I will need to give it 100 per cent commitment from the beginning of 2014.

"I would like to thank everyone at the club who have helped me over these last two years or so.

"The club will always be close to my heart.

"I have loved my time as chairman and it’s been great fun, but it is a volunteering role and my business and family must come first.

"Hopefully everyone will understand because the last two years have been very exciting and this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make.

"I would therefore like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who run the club in their spare time and of course the fans who are the best.

"Their contribution to the running of the club both financially and vocally is immense - words cannot express how grateful I am for their help.

"It is important that everyone gets behind the team and gives their full support."
