A MAN is in critical condition after falling from a window during a fire in Pensarn.
The 51-year-old was rushed to hospital as fire fighters extinguished the blaze in a flat on South Parade, Pensarn just before 2.50am this morning, Friday, November 1.
Eleven residents, including three children, were evacuated from neighbouring flats in the building and taken to a nearby community centre.
Detective Inspector Jonathon Salisbury-Jones at St Asaph CID said: “North Wales Police are conducting a joint investigation with the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to establish the cause of the fire.
“Clearly this will be completed as soon as possible as there are some real concerns in the community.
“Initial enquiries have led me to believe the flat’s occupant may hold significant evidence and unfortunately he remains in a critical condition in hospital.
“I would however add that at this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire”
Two fire crews from Abergele attended the scene alongside three emergency ambulances and police officers.
Fire crews are still assessing the damage and investigating the cause.
DI Jonathan Salisbury-Jones added: "This could have been far more serious had it not been for the prompt actions of the emergency services.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who saw any suspicious persons or activity, or indeed knows anything about who started this fire to contact Police immediately"
