AN attack by “mindless idiots” caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a Conwy cricket pitch.
Police are appealing for information after a vehicle mounted the embankment surrounding the club in Bodlondeb Park, Conwy, and drove over the pitch sometime on Saturday or Sunday.
The vandals left tyre tracks on the cricket square, sparking angry reaction among clubmembers and friends on social network site Twitter.
Conwy Cricket Club Chairman Richard Weed said: “It was rather distressing.
“Especially after we spent £400 putting the surface to bed for the winter, we’ll have to go back and do some of that again - all because of some mindless idiots.”
The club estimates repair costs will run up to £300.
Mr Weed added: “Luckily we can do the repair work ourselves but the money will have to come from club funds.
“It’s a cost we could have done without and it’s damage we could have done without.
“How do people feel this is entertainment?
“The police have been very good with us and hopefully we can get this resolved.”
