SIBLINGS dressed as superheroes raised more than £4000 to help battle an illness being fought by their father.
Brothers Luke, 41, and Jacob Knightly, 23, dressed as Batman and Robin and and took to a ring at a fun day, held at Knightly’s Fun Park in Towyn, to raise funds for the Motor Neurones Disease (MND) Association.
William Knightly, Welsh Conservative county councillor for Towyn and member on Towyn and Kinmel Bay Town Council, was diagnosed with the muscle weakening condition last October.
The dynamic duo wrestled with inflatables and acted as paintball targets at the event, which also featured face painting, balloon modelling and a disco.
Luke said: “I could not have wished for it to go any better than it did.
"We have about 40 bruises each as we were getting fired at for over an hour.We still have donations coming in.There are too many people to thank for their support but they know who they are."
Cllr Knightly recently stepped down as chair of the North Wales Police and Crime Panel but still serves as a member of Conwy County Borough Council and chair of the Authority’s Principal Overview & Scrutiny Committee
A spokesperson from the panel said: “Vice-chair Cllr Glenys Diskin paid warm tribute to the work of outgoing panel chairman Cllr William Knightly, and her remarks were echoed by the Police and Crime Commissioner.
“The appointment of a new chair will be considered at the next meeting of the Police and Crime Panel in November.”
