A MAN has been arrested after a woman in her 40s was assaulted twice in Rhyl.
The victim, who has been treated for facial injuries, was leaving Rhyl town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning after a night out and as she walked towards River Street she was approached by a man who assaulted her.
It is then believed the victim was subjected to a further assault by the same individual before she was able to make her way to safety.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which took place sometime between 1am and 5am, and is currently on police bail pending further inquiries.
The victim received hospital and was later released.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: "Such incidents are rare and our inquiries, which include studying CCTV images and house to house are continuing.
“Following the incident, the victim is believed to have approached a group of young people who were near a car that was close to the park on Vaughan Street.
"We are eager to trace this group and urge them to come forward as they may hold valuable information which could assist in the investigation.
“Similarly we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed an assault in the River Street area of Rhyl during the early hours of Sunday morning, September 1, or has information to get in touch with police immediately.
"It’s possible that people who may have been out for the evening may have been making their way home past River Street and saw something which could prove vital to the investigation."
