A DANCER whose career was ended by a road accident has released her debut single which has received airplay on Radio 1.

Ceri Pritchard, of Prestatyn, who studies Level 2 beauty and nails at Rhyl Coleg Llandrillo, was a passenger on a motorbike when she was hit by a car as she travelled from a performance while working in Cyprus four years ago.

Ceri was told she would never dance again after the bike’s exhaust burned her leg following the crash two days before her birthday.

The 26-year-old is now balancing her studies with a career as a singer/songwriter after releasing Wild Child which is available to download on iTunes and Amazon. She is due to perform at legendary G-A-Y club in London with X Factor semi-finalist Sami Brookes, also of Rhyl, in March, after her song received airplay on Radio 1.

Despite her injuries Ceri is also raising funds and awareness for the Katie Piper Foundation which supports people who have suffered burns.

Ceri, who has raised nearly £3,000 for the charity, said: “I don’t have the confidence to show my bare legs, and at the moment I am making regular trips back and forward to hospital.

“Through the foundation I have met new friends and I am finally getting a piece of the old me back again.

“I did a range of beauty courses at school, so that I could gain experience and qualifications in all aspects of beauty therapy, in the hope that I can specialise in camouflage techniques in the future to help people with disfigurements, whether it is skin cancer or burns-related injuries.”

Ceri’s passion has always been performing; she has worked all over the UK and abroad performing in cabaret and has also been a model and has had various acting and television extra roles.

She has recently organised several local charity nights, including one at Mostyn Clock Tower and one at the Rhyl Pavilion, where all profits went to the Katie Piper Foundation to help the foundation raise much-needed funds for a UK burns and scar treatment centre.
