A 43-year-old woman today (Tuesday) denied five murder charges after the fire which killed a young couple and three children in Prestatyn.
Melanie Jane Smith, of Prestatyn, appeared at Caernarfon crown court on a video link from a remand centre following the tragedy last October.
During a hearing lasting nearly half an hour she pleaded not guilty to the murders of neighbour Liam Timbrell, 23, his partner Lee-Anna Shiers, aged 20, 15-month-old son Charlie, and Lee-Anna’s niece and nephew, Skye and Bailey Allen, two and four.
A blaze had swept through flats in Maes y Groes, Prestatyn, on October 19.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC remanded blonde Smith in custody until a hearing on March 18. Her trial is due to take place in April. She also denied threatening to burn down a house in September.
