COMPLAINTS have been made about the state of the land and disused warehouse owned by Tesco in Prestatyn.
Councillors say they have received numerous complaints from residents in the Sandy Lane area about the dilapidated state of the buildings, the land surrounding them and a vacant house.
Tesco has said a clean-up and landscaping operation at the site has been planned.
Cllr Jason McLellan said: “It is quite disgraceful that Tesco are showing so little regard for their premises.”
Sandy Lane, which is on a direct access route from Prestatyn town centre, has been branded as a considerable eyesore by residents and town councillors.
Cllr Carys Guy-Davies, who lives near the site said she would like to see urgent action taken by the company to tidy up the area.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “We want to make sure the building is safe and presentable.
“It has recently been re-boarded and a thorough clean-up operation is planned to remove any litter or fly-tipping.
“The team will also complete some site landscaping such as cutting the grass and vegetation.
“We hope this positive action is welcome news for residents.
“We will be offering to meet local Councillors in the coming weeks to discuss next steps.”
Cllr Paul Penlington, said: “Tesco is running rough shod over Prestatyn.
“Many of the things they promised the town, if allowed to develop their store, have not come to fruition, and now they are allowing this land to fall into disrepair.”
