A BOMB has been dug up on a Prestatyn beach.

The mortar, believed to date from the Second World War, was discovered on Ffrith Beach earlier this afternoon (Tuesday).

A Cheshire-based bomb disposal unit is at the site and North Wales Police have cordoned off the area.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were contacted at 1.20pm with reports a mortar had been found on Ffrith Beach.

"The bomb disposal team are currently in attendance."
