THE Rhyl Community is making collections to help those affected by yesterday's floods.

Donations of clean bedding and clothes to victims of the St Asaph floods can be made at The Journal office, 23 Kinmel Street, Rhyl. Good quality men’s and women’s clothes, new underwear, shoes, slippers, socks, biscuits and bedding, including pillows, blankets and duvets

Mandy Ellis, coastal group advertisement manager for NWN Media, said: “We are happy to take donations of items that people in the rest centre in St Asaph will need. There are a lot of people who have been evacuated from their homes.

They need it as soon as possible and we will make sure it gets to them.”

The Journal office, is open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Friday.

A Rhyl beauty salon has also set up a show-box appeal.

Staff at Beauty Retreat on Kinmel Street are collecting shoe boxes full of essentials for those affected by the floods.

Jayne Broster, from the salon, said: "We're asking for people to make up shoe boxes and to label them; one for boys, one for girls, one for pets.
"We want to do what we can to help, we've already got half a room full."
