A RHYL man experienced a once in a life time opportunity as he took part in an eye-catching Samsung advert.

David Bailey, 38, of Norman Drive, joined iconic photographer David Bailey, along with another 142 people who share the same name, to take part in Samsung’s photography revolution.

“It was a brilliant day filming the advert in London - a once in a life time opportunity,” said Mr Bailey. “It was very strange to be in the same room as so many David Baileys.

“I was gutted because we just missed out on the world record attempt for most people with the same name in one place.”

Mr Bailey who runs his own business, Premier Artexing and Joinery, said when he first received an email about taking part in the advert he believed it to be a hoax.

“I was on holiday with my family when I received the email – I thought it was just spam mail or my mates just messing about,” he said.

“But I replied and the next thing I know I was invited to take part.”

Mr Bailey, who helped film the advert on September 29, said it was a fantastic experience.

To kick start the photography revolution, Samsung gave each of the David Baileys, aged between 15 and 74, a new camera challenging them to create amazing images that photographer David Bailey would be proud of.

A selection of the best images will then be used in Samsung’s unique advertising campaign for the NX range.

Nick White, Head of Digital Imaging for Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, said: “It was great meeting all the other David Baileys and the campaign is fantastic.”
