Talented tattoo artist shows Tyson his talent face to face

A TALENTED tattoo artist whose work caught the eye of Mike Tyson met up with the legendary boxer this month.

Jay Hutton, aged 22, got the chance to meet the former world champion at the Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool, during an afternoon where Iron Mike gave a talk about his career.

Jay, whose designs include an intricate image of Mike Tyson's face, said he was inspired to go and meet the heavyweight legend after he contacted him on Twitter in August complementing his tattoo work.

“I wanted to go and show him my work in the flesh,” he said.

“I wanted him to see it for himself - I didn’t want him to think it was something I had just taken off the internet.

“It was brilliant meeting him - he was a really nice guy and so down to earth.”

Tyson recently asked Jay to compile a portfolio of his best designs and send them to him, so he could share the images with his 2.8 million followers on the social networking site.

Jay is currently working on a Mike Tyson sleeve for his 25-year-old brother, Danny, who attended the event with him.

“Danny showed him the tattoos on his leg and he realised who we were.
“He was really impressed - one of his friends, who was part of Team Tyson, came over and was taking pictures of the tattoos.”

Since August, various celebrities have contacted Jay on Twitter praising his tattoo work, including former boxers Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield, along with pop star Samantha Mumba.

Jay began his career as a tattoo artist at the age of 18 at New Skin Tattoo in Belgrano.

He has since opened his own shop, Adrenaline Tattoo Studio, in Ellesmere Port.
