THE demolition of Rhyl's eyesore former Honey Club has been approved.
Denbighshire Council will now consult with residents before any work begins after the Welsh Government gave permission to tear down the West Parade site.
It is expected the building will be replaced by a budget hotel chain.
Vale of Clwyd AM Ann Jones said: "Now the council have the green light to demolish the Honey Club and preparation for the demolition begins, it is very important that all those affected by the demolition are consulted.
"I'm really pleased that the Welsh Labour Government have recognised the importance that demolishing, and developing on, the Honey Club site will have for the continued regeneration of Rhyl.
"The building, currently unoccupied and in a state of severe disrepair, has been a massive eyesore."
A spokesman for Denbighshire Council said: "Preparation for the event is currently in hand and all parties affected by the proposed demolition will be consulted.
"The Health and Safety Executive will be involved as a consultee during the whole process in order to bring about a safe and controlled demolition of the building."
