BANGOR is gearing up to celebrate its first pride festival with a guest appearance from Rhyl's own X-Factor star Sami Brooks.
North Wales Pride, organised by Cymru Pride Wales, will be held between October 5 and 7 at Hendre Hall, Bangor and will feature a headline performance by X Factor finalist Sami Brookes.
Cymru Pride is run by a small group of volunteers and the festival aims to celebrate diversity and break down the barriers of discrimination by reaching out to as many members of the community as possible.
Organiser Emma Williams said: “Bangor is an open and tolerant city and we are proud to be bringing the festival to Bangor.
“It is about making the community come together to celebrate diversity and to celebrate the differences we have within our community.”
Sami, from Rhyl, shot to fame on the popular Saturday night entertainment show.
Another confirmed act is the resident DJ of Garlands in Liverpool, Dave Booth.
The main event is also playing host to a number of local performers, artists and activities for all ages including yoga, salsa and zumba taster sessions.
Emma added: “We are hoping to build momentum up as the years go on and put it on in a larger venue.”
North Wales Pride has a limited number of trade stands available for organisations and businesses who wish to attend the event.
