A “FRIENDLY feud” involving two neighbours saw one return from holiday to find his garden transformed into a zoo.
Barry Brennand was greeted by replica monkeys, ducks, toy parrots, a 10ft crocodile and even a life size horse thanks to neighbour Maggie Mcelroy who had spent hours on her elaborate prank.
“I thought it was hilarious,” said Barry, owner of the Whistlestop Cafe in Rhuddlan.
“Not only did it look like a zoo, she had jungle music playing.”
Barry, 65, revealed the pair, who live in Brook Avenue, Towyn, enjoyed playing practical jokes on each other.
“She is just as bad as I am and I am just as bad as she is.”
Care worker Maggie, 49, said: “He is always playing jokes and tricks on people, but I think in me he has met his match.
“His partner Dorothy was egging me on that I should get him back.”
Maggie chose to exploit Barry’s boast his garden was so beautiful it could be a nature reserve.
Maggie added: “I am terribly worried about what he is going to do next, I’m never going away again.”
“I can’t tell you what I am planning,” added Barry, “But the payback will be sweet.”
