RHYL boss Greg Strong is looking forward to a busy pre-season schedule after tying down a number of last season’s squad for the 2012/13 campaign.
Eight faces from 2011/12’s close-run promotion charge will be returning to the Belle Vue, including skipper Russell Courtney, winger Tom Rowlands and Michael Pritchard.
The eight join fans favourite John Leah, who has also signed up for the challenge, and Strong said he was pleased with the early progress made in assembling his squad.
“It’s pleasing that the’ve decided to come back, as I think at times last year they played some fantastic stuff,” he said.
“I think one thing we lacked last season was that bit of experience, and that’s somthing that John will bring to us. We’ll be running the rule over some of the trialists who we’ve also got in, and we’ll be bringing in people to make us better than last year.
Also returning are attackers Paul McManus, James Stead and Dave Forbes, as well as the combative duo of Danny Jarrett and Danny Hughes.
All eight will be put through their paces in the club’s first pre-season fixture this weekend when Hyde United come to town, and Strong said his charges were itching to get back into action.
“We’ve had a few sessions so far and I’ve been impressed with how the lads have come back,” he said.
“I know they’re all looking forward to this weekend and getting a game under their belts. We’ve tried to look at matches against teams in the North West who will remember playing us in the past - it’s really got the fans excited.
