PAIGE Williams’ dream Florida holiday has been called off.
The brave toddler who is suffering from a severe brain tumour will now go to Disneyland in Paris after fears she may not be able to fly home if she falls ill in America.
More than £12,000 has been raised by kind-hearted Journal readers who have taken up the cause of the three-year-old from Prestatyn who has been given just months to live.
Dad Michael Rider, who works at Rhyl Rugby Club, said: “We are now going to Disneyland in Paris. If Paige was to get ill in Florida we won’t be able to get her home.
“In Paris we can get back on a train.
“She loves all the attention she is getting at the moment. She is getting excited about her trip.”
Pupils from Ysgol Penmorfa in Prestatyn held a cake sale and raffle event in aid of Paige raising more than £110.
Rhyl High School is holding a sponsored walk for Paige on July 17 with Year 7 students Olivia Trimm, Chelsey Izzard and Bethany Roberts organising the event.
Olivia said: “We really wanted to help Paige and her family and raise money. As her condition is so bad we want her to enjoy herself and give her what she wants.
“The whole school is doing a sponsored walk and this will help to raise money for little Paige.”
Michael is organising a charity darts match at Rhyl Rugby Club on July 11 from 7pm.
Darts starts Jamie Caven and Mark ‘mile high’ Hylton will taking part with a raffle to play a round against them.
He said: “We are amazed by the response we have had to Paige’s fundraising.
“It has been overwhelming. This has restored my faith in society. The area gets such a bad name, but this is amazing. It has been such a nice gesture.
“We are all so thankful for what people have done. It is unbelievable.”
