POLICE have called on Chester residents to help solve the brutal murder of a prostitute in the city 21 years ago.
Despite a huge inquiry and numerous repeat appeals the killer of 29-year-old Lynne Trenholm has never been brought to justice.
Just before 10am on Sunday, June 9, 1991, Lynne’s body was discovered in an upstairs room at Pinky’s Massage Parlour in Boughton. The premises closed down a short time afterwards.
A post-mortem examination revealed the prostitute had been stabbed to death by an unknown attacker as she worked alone.
In the months that followed, detectives interviewed more than 700 people, including a large number of men who had used Pinky’s for a range of sexual activities. But the killer has never been caught.
Over the years a single unexplained fingerprint from the scene has been periodically run through the national database.
Cheshire Police have launched their renewed appeal on the 21st anniversary of the murder in the hope that the killer can be found once and for all.
It is also believed there may be more people who visited Pinky’s around the time of Lynne’s death who may not have come forward.
Det Chief Insp Simon Price, from the major investigation team, said: "Cheshire police remains committed to finding the person responsible for the brutal murder of Lynne Trenholm.
"We reviewed the case last year and will continue with this should new evidence come to our attention.
"We still need the public to help us bring her killer to justice and would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us on 101."

On the 10th anniversary of the murder detectives examined a number of new leads but were still unable to solve the case.
The force received a total of 18 phone calls on the first weekend following the anniversary appeal.
The victim was originally from the Failsworth area of Manchester.
