FRIENDS and family of an Old Colwyn woman who died after a battle with illness have gone the extra mile.
More than 70 people took part in the charity walk from Colwyn Bay pier to Rhos on Sea on Sunday in memory of Susan Slater, 52, who died in March 2010 of the bone marrow cancer myeloma.
Susan (pictured above right), who worked for 17 years as the head of IT and personal development at Coleg Llandrillo, Rhos on Sea, also led the Tan Lan troop of morris dancers.
Her sister Lynda Goodier said: “It was fantastic, we had 70 adults plus lots of children and family turn up.
“She was a very popular lady, and it was a really good community day, it got very emotional.
“Sue is missed so very much by her close family and friends.”
The fundraisers, who have so far gathered more than £510, wore orange for the walk to match the colours of cancer charity Myeloma UK, and hope to make the walk an annual event.
Further donations can be made in her memory at www.sueslaterfund.co.uk.
