THE Under 7s of Rhyl Rugby Club rounded off a superb season with four back-to-back wins over Ruthin at the weekend.
The youngsters (pictured) started on the right foot with an 8-1 demolition of Ruthin, with Owain Espley, Airan Semple and Joseph Roberts all scoring twice, along with efforts from Roman Hodgson and Finley Mills.
A 13-12 victory followed, as Dylan Cook topped the scoring with a seven try haul. Hayden Yeomans (2), Jack Walsh (2), Daniel Roberts and Ryan Espley ensured Rhyl squeezed through.
Three each from Airan Semple and Joseph Roberts, as well as two for Roman Hodgson and a first try of the season for Ethan Philpott landed a 9-4 result, and the fourth win came in the shape of a 12-8 victory. Dylan Cook, Hayden Yeomans and Ryan Espley each scored a hat-trick, with Jack Walsh and Daniel Roberts also scored.
The Under 8s kicked off a series of matches against Bangor with a 5-3 win. Evan Espley scored twice, with Reece Hughes, Paddy Nelson and Delyth Speakman also on the scoresheet.
A second match finished in an 8-4 win, with some fine individual tries from Rhys Bunn, EthanWitham, Tommy Jones (3), Jake McWilliams, Paddy Nelson and Delyth Speakman.
The Under 10s finished off their last home match of the season with a try bonanza,winning 66-45, with Liam Roberts scoring four, Troy Billington three and Twm Prys-Jones, Sol Williams and Ossian Bradshaw-Evans, who also kicked the majority of the covnersions, adding one each.
Rhyl Under 12s were also triumphant against Bangor, 20-17. After the visitors opened the scoring, Michael Hughes (3) and Mathew Vaughan scored tries.
The final game saw the Under 14s lose out in a good contest with Bangor, who went 17 points ahead in the first quarter. Rhyl replied through Max Copeland before Bangor scored a further 17 points. Rhyl’s Elliot Jones brought the half to an end with a unconverted try. The second half was a closer encounter with Bangor outscoring Rhyl by twelve points to five with Max Copeland the scorer.
