TIME is running out for residents to have their say on how Anglesey Council spends its funds.

Chief executive Richard Parry Jones urged residents to contribute the council’s consultation on its draft 2012-13 budget, which ends tomorrow (Friday, February 10).

He said: “The Council must, of course, consider its priorities very carefully in light of the dwindling public purse and the current consultation process with help us make informed decision when considering the Budget.

The economic climate has led to severe cuts in public sector spending, and Anglesey Council now faces difficult financial challenges.

Anglesey Council wants feedback on a proposed 5 per cent council tax increase, saving proposals, alternative saving proposals and areas of priority for investment.

Anglesey commissioner with responsibility for finance Byron Davies said that the council would not make any changes without full consultation with the public, partners and stakeholders.

He added: “As commissioners, we’ll be making every possible effort to protect frontline services, but it is inevitable that tough decisions lie ahead.”

The commissioners will present their final budget proposals to the full council on March 6.

The consultation document is available at www.anglesey.gov.uk, and he document is also available in libraries.
