More problems in store for Dyfi Bridge

PROBLEMS on the Dyfi Bridge at Machynlleth have been worsened after it was struck by a lorry in an accident last Thursday.

There were no injuries but the road was closed for a while.

Travelling over the bridge will also be severely hampered next month when barriers will be installed to stop people attempting to pass over it when the road is flooded.

“This is obviously no remedy to the problem, merely a cheap alternative to what is actually required,” said town council Dyfi Bridge steering committee chairman Cllr Gareth Jones.

It follows the Welsh Assembly decision to reject a project to develop the area.
