BETWS-YN-RHOS 3
CERRIGYDRUDION 2

HOW important will Jason Jones’ late strike prove to be?

With time running out, Betws-yn-Rhos had a healthy 3-1 lead in the first leg of their REM Jones Cup semi-final at home to Cerrigydrudion.

But Jones bagged Cerrig’s second goal with just a couple of minutes left, which sets the tie up perfectly for an exciting second leg.

Things started well enough for Cerrig, who took a 20th minute lead courtesy of Cory Williams, but Betws were level before the break thanks to Paul Cornwall’s strike.

Mike Loughlin gave the hosts the lead midway through the second half and Betws-yn-Rhos stretched their lead when Cornwall scored his second goal 10 minutes from time.

However, Cerrig had the final word through Jones’ late strike to set up an enthralling second leg.
