DOG OWNERS in Denbighshire could soon face similar control orders to those introduced in neighbouring Conwy.

Denbighshire County Council has revealed it is taking part in informal consultations on introducing similar rules to those in Conwy, which from today ban dogs from a number of public places.

A spokesperson for Denbighshire County Council said: “Informal consultations have taken place, though a decision is yet to be made.”

Dog owners in Conwy now face a £75 fixed penalty notice for failing to follow the new orders, which came into effect on February 1.

The control orders ban dogs from a number of public spaces, including all fenced children’s play areas and school fields, marked sports pitches and games areas, and must be kept on a lead at all times on the Clwyd Park recreation field and the sand dunes in Kinmel Bay.

Dogs must also be kept on a lead on all stretches of pavement and verges with a speed limit of 40mph or less.

To report dog fouling, or dog fouling problems at a particular location, phone Conwy’s Community Safety Enforcement Team on 01492 575701.
