POLICE appealed for information after money was stolen from a cathedral.

Last week, North Wales Police issued a plea for witnesses to come forward after a series of thefts hit Denbighshire churches and St Asaph Cathedral.

The first incident on December 21 saw money taken from a wooden unit at St Asaph after the lock was tampered with.

The latest incident was reported to police on January 15, when cash was taken from a cash box at Henllan Church.

PC Wendy Szabo, who is investigating the offences, said: “Unfortunately, six incidents have now been reported where cash boxes or charity boxes have been damaged by an offender or offenders who have then stolen the money inside.”

Officers investigating are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked.

Anyone with information can contact PC 2794 Szabo at Denbigh Police Station or her colleagues on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
