Meliden close in on Rhuddlan

MELIDEN moved within eight points of Premier Division leaders Rhuddlan Town with a 3-1 win at Llansannan.

Lee Johnson and John Atherton put Meliden ahead and although Ross Gilbert (pen) reduced the gap Jordan Collins got a third.

Rhuddlan’s match at Prestatyn Rovers was called off due to ground conditions but Rhyl Athletic pulled off a 3-2 victory at Mochdre Sports with goals from Matt Roberts (two) and Ray Thomas.

Abergele Dragons saw their Presidents Cup ambitions dashed in a 4-1 defeat at Rhos United.

St Asaph lost a penalty shoot-out in their Barritt Cup game against Llanrug United. Jason Foulkes made it all-square for Saints who fell 3-2 in the spot-kick decider.

Rhyl Hearts and Abergele Dragons both had Halkyn Cup matches called off.

James Stead was the hat-trick star in Rhyl’s 5-2 win at Llandudno in the Reserve Premier League, Ryan Dean and Jay Malloy completing Rhyl’s nap hand but Denbigh Town lost  4-2 defeat to Glan Conwy.

Kinmel Bay Sports came from behind to win 3-2 at Greenfield in the Barritt Cup with goals from James Hayes, Danny Abbott and Mark Jones while a Chris House strike secured a win for Llandyrnog United against Pwllheli.
