TRIBUTES have been made to a “special” teenager who died following a car crash in Deganwy.
Kody Dutton, 13, of Vardre Close, suffered series injuries after a Rover MGZ collided with a parked, unoccupied Mitsubishi Shogun on Vardre Avenue shortly after 12.30am on Saturday.
The Ysgol Aberconwy pupil was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital then transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Merseyside, but died from his injuries on Monday night.
A statement thought to be from Kody’s family, including his mum, dad Tony and siblings Korey, Kasey and Kady, thanking people for their “thoughts and prayers”, posted on his Facebook page, described him as “The Special One”.
“He was loved by all.
“He will be missed by all his friends and family.
“God Bless Kody.”
News of Kody’s injuries saw a dedicated Facebook group called Show Your Support For Kody Dutton set up.
Following his death, the group swelled to more than 1,200 members, each wanting to share memories and pay their respects.
Faye Hughes wrote: “No one will ever forget your cheeky smile. Noone will forget how your such a good footballer. Hope ur showing god a few moves up there.”
A minute’s silence was observed at Conwy United’s game against Bangor City at Y Morfa Stadium last night (Tuesday) in memory of the Under 14s footballer.
Team manager Tommy Creamer said: “It was special to work with him - he was such a special footballer.
“We would like to offer our condolences to the whole family from everyone at Conwy United Junior Football Club.”
David Wylde, headteacher at Ysgol Aberconwy, described Kody as a “popular pupil” at the school.
“The news has come as a terrible shock to both pupils and staff at the school and he will be sadly missed,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.”
A police spokesman said: “Two local youths have been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Ifan Jones on 101.”
