VILLAGERS have vowed to protest on the A470 if demands for a pedestrian crossing are not met.

Residents in Glan Conwy hoping to build a skate park for children want a pedestrian crossing installed at Llanrwst Road.

The skate park was originally proposed for Acre Field, on Top Llan Road, but planners decided against the move due to disturbance to nearby residents.

When it was suggested that the park be moved to Cae Ffwt, on the opposite side of the Llanrwst Road, parents insisted a crossing be provided to allow children using the park to cross safely.

Mother of four Mandy Moore, who has been campaigning for a skate park for three years, has collected more than 300 signatures calling for a crossing.

She said: “I’ve got a petition out and I’ve got so much support behind me.

“If this doesn’t go on with the crossing, we’ll do a demonstration on the road.”

Community councillor Dan Worsley said it would be safer to site the skate park at Acre Field, but added he would continue to campaign for a crossing on the Llanrwst Road.

The campaign has the backing of Ysgol Glan Conwy, Aberconwy AM Janet Finch-Saunders and Guto Bebb MP.
