A JOURNAL delivery boy who saved towards his own Christmas present was “devastated” when it was stolen.
Connor Garforth, 14, of Ffordd Penrhwylfa, Prestatyn, put aside months of wages to cover half the cost of his BMX, only to have it swiped at about 2pm on Saturday in Rhyl.
His grandmother Jean Hillman, said the Prestatyn High School pupil was in Abbey Pets, Water Street, with friends and had left the bike outside the shop.
“He kept one eye on it, and checked it was still there, but he looked away for two minutes and someone walked past and just took it.
“They should feel guilty, but whether they will or not, I don’t know. He saved up as his mother Esther is a single parent, and she struggled to pay the other half. It’s his pride and joy.”
Mrs Hillman said: “I’m disgusted and gutted for him.
“It was his big Christmas present. He had been so looking forward to using it. It took him three or four months to save up for it. He locked it in a garage at night and looked after it so well.”
The stolen BMX dirt bike is a silver Dirty Toxic with a bright blue seat and bright blue wheel rims, and police are calling for anyone with information to come forward.
Mrs Hillman said: “He only had it a fortnight. He’s absolutely devastated.”
Anyone with information should call North Wales Police on 101.
