January

A 2-1 win over eventual champions Halifax Town kept Colwyn Bay’s title hopes on track in January.
Chris Sanna and Rob Hopley also returned to Llanelian Road, the latter a loanee from Chester who netted a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Bradford PA, while Conwy United got their year off to an imposing start with a 7-2 thrashing of local rivals Llandudno Junction.

February

Late winter frost saw February get off to a slow start on the sports front, with a number of fixtures called off.
Things warmed up for Colwyn Bay FC as the month progressed though, with 1-0 wins over FC United, Frickley Athletic and Chasetown keeping Dave Challinor’s promotion bandwagon rolling.
Junior athletes Rachael Johncock, Tom Earley, Abigail Backshall and Fern Davies from Colwyn Bay Athletics Club competed in the Welsh Indoor Championships in Cardiff, bringing home four gold medals and eight podium finishes.
Maesdu golf champion Amy Boulden also fulfilled a life-long dream by caddying for fairways legend Tiger Woods at the pro-am event of the Dubai Classic.

March

Conwy United’s cup dreams continued as Toby Jones struck a match-winning free kick in their 2-1 Welsh Trophy semi-final victory over local rivals Glan Conwy.
Nant Conwy also booked a final date, reaching the SWALEC Plate showpiece with a 40-12 win over Bala.
Dyffryn ABC prize-fighters Luke Edwards and Connah Jones joined clubmates Kyle Rigby, Jarod Jones and Billy Edwards as Welsh Champions at the start of March.

April

Conwy United’s march to the Welsh Alliance title was wrapped up in April, as Paul Moroney’s men finished the term with a 100% record at their Morfa Stadium home.
An 87th minute winner from Alex Titchener against Retford United secured Colwyn Bay FC’s play-off spot, whilst Llandudno Town landed a sixth place finish despite three late-season draws.
Nant Conwy Rugby Club’s rich vein of form continued with a merciless 58-5 win over Colwyn Bay at the start of the month, but the Bay battled back to win the return fixture 12-8 to give themselves a fighting chance of beating the drop from Swalec League One North.
The cricket season also started, with reigning North Wales champions Llandudno making amends for an opening day defeat with a nine wicket win over Bangor, whilst Colwyn Bay’s young guns fired them to an eight wicket win over Caldy.

May

September

The final week of Colwyn Bay CC’s season was a washout, but the cancelation failed to put a dampner on the Seconds’ celebrations as they sealed the Liverpool League Division One title.
Mochdre’s superb season saw them finish in fifth, but there was promotion heartbreak for their seconds and thirds, both of which missed out on promotion on the final day of the season.
Llandudno ended in second place, with a points deduction for fielding a suspended player making a messy end to the campaign. Conwy meanwhile finished in fifth.
Colwyn Bay Rugby Club made a winning start to the season, taking maximum points in three of their first four games, whilst Nant Conwy went one better with four wins on the bounce, including a 24-19 win over reigning champions Caernarfon.

The Cambrian Rally also roared into the seaside town, with over 100 rally drivers racing around The Orme’s Marine Drive.
