Llanidloes Town FC attracated a bigger gate thana Newtown-TNS on Boxing Day

PHIL Woosnam has described his delight after a bumper day of Boxing Day attendances across the Spar Mid Wales League.

The stand out match was at Victoria Avenue, where an attendance of 420 - bigger than three Welsh Premier gates over the festive period - watched Llanidloes Town beat Rhayader Town 4-1.
The Spar Mid Wales League secretary said: “This is great news for the league and it reflects the interest in the league from Mid Wales football fans, with a massive gate at Llanidloes and also an impressive attendance for the Welshpool derby.

“At the end of the day football fans relate to players from their own locality and therefore more people tend to watch Mid Wales League games than the Welsh Premier.”

Llanidloes Town assistant boss Peter Jones added: “There was an outstanding atmosphere which helped make for a great derby. All credit to Rhayader Town who brought with them a large number of supporters, while our own fans were also outstanding.”
