FUNDRAISERS across the region went Children in Need mad to help the BBC appeal reach a record total.

Big-hearted backers in Wales raised £1.3 million of the £26 million pledged.

Among the ventures in Wrexham were a big fancy dress party involving staff and army cadets at the town’s Asda store and another fancy dress parade by staff from the Moneypenny call centre.

In Flintshire, staff and pupils at Ysgol Maes Garmon donned fancy dress to raise cash.

They included teacher Gethyn Jones who became a fearsome looking Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates Of The Caribbean films.

There was more Children in Need fun at Ysgol Argoed.

In Ellesmere Port, Matthew Cooke put himself in the stocks outside Henry Brown in Marina Walk to rake in more cash for the appeal.

you know when we are on our back foot so as to speak, we always find a few pennies to put together to keep breaking records... good work by all those who took part in the appeal and all who donated, Britain is not dead yet.
